Service Description
Join our team as a High Voltage Power Transformer Inspection and Test Expert, where you will develop expertise, perform, and coordinate Production and Active Part Inspections (APIs), Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs), and Site Acceptance Tests (SATs) of new Power Transformers (PTFOs), Shunt Reactors (SHRs), and Phase Shifting Transformers (PSTs). The units are manufactured and tested globally, primarily in European factories, and are supplied as part of projects for the Belgian High Voltage electricity grid.
Main Responsibilities
Technical Expertise and Testing
Stay up to date with developments in:
Relevant tests (dielectric, thermal, functional, noise measurements, etc.).
International test standards (IEC), recommendations (Cigré), and testing methodologies.
Test equipment for transformers and major components (e.g., bushings, tap changers).
Inspections related to core, windings, active parts, accessories, steelworks, and monitoring systems.
Perform inspections and tests, providing comprehensive reports:
In factories (for transformers or major components) - production and active part inspections.
In test laboratories (factory-based or independent) - FATs or other critical tests.
On-site - SATs.
Coordination and Planning
Coordinate and plan inspection and testing activities between inspectors, inspection companies, and factories.
Ensure all relevant specifications and instructions are available to inspectors and inspection companies.
Align, onboard, and evaluate:
Ensure alignment between different inspectors and inspection companies.
Onboard new inspectors and inspection companies.
Conduct annual evaluations and maintain an updated competence matrix.
Documentation and Reporting
Draft and review technical documents, including mission descriptions and instructions for inspectors.
Evaluate and discuss Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) and Quality Control Plans (QCPs) with suppliers.
Provide technical input for General Technical Specifications related to transformers, SHRs, and PSTs.
Centralize feedback, evaluate, and report inspection and testing results on a regular basis.
Support investigations in case of major equipment-related quality issues (factory or on-site), assisting with Root Cause Analysis and next-step recommendations.
Centralize and upload final FAT results into the internal database.
Share knowledge and expertise by preparing and delivering training sessions to various audiences.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in electricity or equivalent experience.
Experience in high-voltage testing and industrial inspections is preferred.
Knowledge of high-voltage power transformers is an advantage.
Willingness to travel abroad for short missions (typically less than one week).
Strong inspector mentality: assertive with suppliers and detail-oriented in documentation.
Excellent communication and persuasion skills; team-oriented mindset.
Fluent in English; knowledge of French and/or Dutch is a plus.
Proficiency in MS Office is an advantage.
